Light falls on a friend’s living room.  The artwork is that of his father who committed suicide in the mid 60s, or so.  He worked as a commercial artist for Ford and also sold his paintings around Detroit and Northern Michigan.

I own one large drawing… pastels and it looks like a cave painting.  It’s beautiful.

Went to dinner tonight at the Bechtold Cottage on Torch Lake.  I love that old funky original Michigan cottage!

Rain again today.  Our garage is leaking all over my husband’s work bench and onto the floor.  So we ignored it and took off in our Jeep along dirty/muddy roads.  This is one of the gorgeous sights along the way.

Tomorrow.. roof guy.

Mackinac Island,Michigan.  I took this photo as a friend flew us to the island in a 4 seat plane.  Adventurous, since he was about 81 at the time and another plane almost hit us as we got in line for landing.  But we got there and back just fine.

At the top left of this photo you can see the Grand Hotel.  From the air it’s so strange to see how uninhabited the place still is.  No cars on the island.. just horses and bicycles.

This is what October looks like in our little village.

Last night I went to a recording session with my husband.  I went because they were working in an old one room school house that is now privately owned.  It retains a lot of the old school equipment and look.

I so desperately want a space like this one!

Early this morning a friend called to say she was taking her peddle boat out to check on the loon families and wanted to know if I wanted to come along.  (She’s part of a group who is helping them survive in this area.)

We were in the boat before 9 a.m.  and not only could I watch the loons pretty close up but got to hear the calls.. the ones to gather the family and the ones to warn of danger.  Both are the most awesome sounds.  This was the best shot I got this morning.  I need a longer lens!

Evening at our cottage on Torch Lake.

This summer cottage is located on Torch Lake in Alden, Michigan.  Not a lot in the town but it’s cute and it’s right on Torch Lake.

We went there for ice cream today and oh my.. I wanted one of these little houses so bad.  Instead I took photos of them all.

Just so you know, this week is Cherry Festival in Traverse City Michigan.

Headlines of the local newspaper said something like, “Local cherries will be used at the festival”.  I certainly hope so.. this is the cherry capitol of the world, after all.
