Fourth of July
This is my favorite holiday. It happens in the summer which is really great. Families get together but you don’t have to buy presents for everyone and you can eat hot dogs and watermelon and potato salad and then have ice cream. In fact you almost HAVE to eat those things.
People get all patriotic and feel good about being in this country (I think they do anyway)… at least I do.
I honestly love this country. It’s not that I don’t also love some other countries but I’m the kind of person who cries when the customs guy at the airport welcomes me back to the USA. Yes, I do … I really do.
I love Canada and I love France. Sounds like I am about to make a silly rhyme but I’m not. I don’t really love Germany mostly because of the language which makes me all edgy, like I am about to interrogated.
Citizens of the United States mostly feel good about being here no matter how much you may hate this or that political party or politician. This country is, in fact, rather awesome in so many ways.
I really do love my country. And yeah, I vote. I’ve voted in every election (except sometime city and county stuff) since I was voting age. The first president I voted for was Kennedy. It’s been a long time.
